An impressive and highly decorative pair of figural candelabra, each modelled as a crane standing atop a tortoise, supporting twin cloud-form candle holders. Richly embellished with turquoise and coral-coloured hardstone inlays to the tortoise shell and decorative elements throughout. The crane and tortoise are enduring symbols within Chinese decorative arts, representing longevity, wisdom, prosperity and immortality.

Multi-part hand-assembled construction with chased feather and scale decoration, individually fitted hardstone/resin inlays and carved stone candle cups. Related examples are attributed to 19th-century Chinese Export production; no maker’s mark or definitive hallmark has been identified.
