Elongated Moorish Hanging Lantern

Description

An elongated hanging lantern of hexagonal form, distinguished by tall, slender proportions, onion-shaped upper and lower terminals and repeating pierced rosette motifs. Panels of coloured glass in ruby red, cobalt blue, emerald green, amber and clear create a vibrant decorative effect when illuminated, framed by punched and stippled metal borders.

Catalogue note

Soldered seams and individually fitted glass place the work firmly within the Moorish Revival tradition, reminiscent of North African export lanterns of the early twentieth century.
